Barn Bluff Engagement Photos
Sometimes all the elements for a perfect engagement session just seem to line up. Matt and Kaiah’s Barn Bluff engagement session was certainly one of these. The couple, the location, the light, the evening – it all worked beautifully together. We all met in Red Wing, MN for the session and hiked up the beautiful Barn Bluff together (I may have huffed and puffed up at five and a half months pregnant, but totally worth it!). If you’re from Minnesota or Wisconsin and have not been to Barn Bluff yet, I highly recommend checking it out. The bluff overlooks the Mississippi River and the town of Red Wing and is home to beautiful rolling hills and epic views. Certainly worth the hike up.
The Importance of Engagement Photos
Hiking up and spending time with Matt and Kaiah reminded me of how important engagement sessions are. Engagement sessions are a lot of things – they are a time when you can get to know your photographer who you will be working with throughout your entire wedding day, they are a time to get comfortable in front of the camera and learn how your photographer will work with you on your wedding day, putting a lot of potential anxiety to rest, and, perhaps most importantly, it’s a time when you can have portraits of the two of you together, in a more relaxed environment without the crowd that often times comes with wedding day portraits. After a few minutes, I saw Matt and Kaiah completely ease into the session and each other. They were able to focus on each other and enjoy the experience.
