Shelter Cove, California was a special place for Kayla and Brendan, long before their wedding day at the Inn of the Lost Coast. The coastal paradise had been the couple’s favorite vacation spot since they first started dating. Capturing their intimate coastal wedding in the place they fell in love, made being their photographer even more special.
The decor was kept simple because for Kayla and Brendan, it wasn’t about the details. It was about celebrating their beautiful commitment to one another in a place that was so special to them. It was the most stunning detail of all!
The first look was like a dream, with the fog rolling off the cliffs and the sun shining through just as Kayla began walking down to the cliff where Brendan was waiting while holding her gorgeous bouquet by Tranquility Lane Flowers.
Following their ceremony at Wedding Point, the two snuck away for photos at Little Black Sands Beach before dancing the night away with the Pacific Ocean as their backdrop. As a wedding photographer, watching these two glow in each other’s presence gave me all the feels!
Kayla and Brendan, it was truly an honor to have joined you during such a beautiful time of your lives. I left your day with a full heart. I hope you enjoy this summary of your beautiful wedding day!
“We didn’t really have a theme for our wedding, it was all about the destination. Shelter Cove was a special place for both of us. We took a trip there together when we first started dating, and we both fell in love there. We wanted to share this beautiful place with all the people that we love, so it was a natural choice for our wedding. The colors were inspired by the ocean. The main color was blush to give it an elegant feel. The colors were Sherwin-Williams – Orchid, Storm Cloud, and Rain.” – Kayla, The Bride
The Floral: “Flowers were very important in our wedding. We had the bridal bouquet, and boutonnieres professionally done. We DIY’d the bridesmaid bouquets, centerpieces, and gazebo garland. The flowers used were different varieties of Garden Roses, Anemone, Ranunculus, and Eucalyptus.” – Kayla, The Bride
The Ceremony: “Most of the day it was foggy outside, still beautiful, but there was little sun, and you couldn’t see much of the ocean, if any, out in the distance. Everyone kept telling us that the fog would roll out. As I was walking down to Brendan for the First Look, the fog was all around him, and all I could see was a dark shadow (my soon-to-be husband) standing in the mist. It was by far, the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. As I was walking towards him the fog seemed to roll alongside me. By the time I reached him the fog had completely rolled off of the cliffs, and the sun was shining. I won’t ever forget that moment.” – Kayla, The Bride
“We met on OkCupid surprisingly enough! We actually lived really close to one another and had never met somehow. For our first date, we decided to go to a local restaurant for drinks. I almost canceled on him that day, but my co-workers convinced me to go, and I can’t imagine where my life would be right now if I hadn’t.” – Kayla, The Bride
Advice to Future Brides: “I took wedding planning very seriously, I had a list for everything, and I was dead set on perfection. I cared so much about the decorations when I was planning it. And honestly… the wind came up and blew them all off of the tables before dinner, and I didn’t even care at all. Not even a little bit. We ended up eating on bare folding tables, and most everyone was inside! But I didn’t care one bit because I had just married my best friend, and I was watching the sunset while eating our favorite foods. My advice to you is to focus on the things that really matter, and let the rest be as they are.” – Kayla, The Bride
