Don’t worry, I’ll guide you through the session so you never have to worry about posing or what comes next. The result is a natural, yet curated lifestyle session that highlights the best of who you are.
Instead of your session being a chore, I work to make it an experience. It’s a day spent with your family exploring your world, whether that’s in your own living room or next to a favorite lake. You’re not posing the whole time, but instead, think of it like a family outing with a photographer who happens to be along for the fun.

Let’s be real, parenthood can feel downright exhausting sometimes. But then that little baby of yours gives you a big squeeze or makes you laugh so hard your cheeks hurt, and you know: it’s all worth it. My approach to family photography is to capture the beautiful, chaotic, quiet, loud everything that is your family. Your session can be outdoors, in your home, or at my studio.

Mini sessions are the perfect option for families who want a quick session and only need a a few images for holiday cards, maternity, headshots or milestones. Marit offers minis both outdoors and monthly at her studio.

The focus of your newborn session is on your sweet new family in your own space (or my studio). I want you to be able to hold these images in your hands and recognize all the genuine emotions of being a new parent—love, joy, and wonder. Inquire with me about newborn sessions.

So much changes in the first year. This whole new person is busy figuring it all out with you at their side. Sitting up, crawling, maybe even taking first steps—the First Year Collection (my most popular collection for clients) is several sessions over the course of Year One that documents all the big and small changes in your little one and your family. This discounted membership program assures your child's first year is beautifully captured.

Heirloom Portraits are a modern take on a classic style. These special sessions strip away all the extra fluff for a focused black-and-white portrait that calls to mind a time before ours. Your home— There’s just something special about seeing you and your kids in your own space—the nursery, your toddler’s favorite stuffy!—and it tends to help children feel at ease.
My studio— I offer a natural light studio in a NE Minneapolis historic building. It’s a big space with lots of amenities and even a curated studio wardrobe for babies.
Outdoors— I love to scout gorgeous spots for summer + fall family sessions. These are never your typical spots where we’re fighting for space. We’ll find something unique where you’ve got room to roam and capture the beauty of Minnesota.

My natural light studio is nestled in NE Minneapolis. The perfect spot if you aren't comfortable with an in-home photoshoot or want a studio setting for your session.
STUDIO WARDROBE
I have a small, beautifully curated wardrobe of children's clothing for clients who visit me in the studio. Inquire ahead of time to have clothing pulled for your child's size.
VARIOUS BACKDROPS
The studio offers a variety of backdrops and props for clients - from sold white walls, sofas and chairs, to a wall of windows and beautiful hand-painted backdrops. Choose the look that speaks to you.

That’s why I believe so much in the importance of printing our images, because Instagram just isn’t the same. But look, I get it. This is my career, and I don’t even know where all my family photos are living on my phone. That’s why I love to offer an array of carefully curated prints and products to my clients in addition to digital files so you never find yourself digging through a flash drive for that one folder you know you saw that one time.
